A Short History of the Band
In 1996 a group of pipers and drummers from many schools held a meeting at Mercedes College in Western Australia hoping to generate further interest in the pipe band scene within the State. This meeting attracted a total of fifteen people who discussed the need to generate public interest in pipe band competitions and performances, common rules for local contests and the formation of another band in WA.
After approaches to the City of Cockburn, the fledging band found sponsorship and was officially formed in 1997. The band wears the Isle of Man tartan and performs throughout WA representing the City of Cockburn.
The band has participated in many community events since conception including the Anzac Day parade and the Channel Seven Christmas pageant. Many of the band members compete in the State Solo competitions as well as the Pipe Band Championships held here in Perth, WA.
